The Right to Education

“In most parts of the world, when a girl is born, her wings are clipped. She is not able to fly.” - Ziauddin Yousafzai. Women are getting their wings clipped, and therefore can not have the same opportunities as men. Whether it is discrimination in education, employment, or during a pregnancy these are ways many women face discrimination. Women may have difficulty being accepted into college, and some face the problem of even being allowed the basic right to go to school.

When it comes to education women are often discriminated against in college or early education. Malala Yousafzai is perfect example of what it is like to be discriminated against in education. She was only an 11 year old living in Pakistan when she was told she could no longer go to school. According to the website malala.org, she was shot in the head on the way home from school. This shows that even though women in America have the right to go to school, there are other women in developing countries that may not get that right. It is up to women to be the change that we wish to see.

Education is needed, so everyone can have the same opportunity to succeed as everybody else. Women shouldn’t have to stand up to have a basic right to education. With education women can become powerful leaders that young females can look up too. Next time that you want to complain about waking up early to go to school, just remember that not everyone has the right to go. You can donate to help this cause at malala.org.
